Pastor Kenneth H. Browning
St. John’s Church of God In Christ

Born December 6, 1971 in Hartford Connecticut to Mrs. Christine Browning, Elder Browning began his ministerial career at an early age.

Approximately between the ages of 9 – 12, he served as a bible study leader and assisted with Sunday School Teaching at the Apostolic Church of Jesus under Pastor Wimes. A few years later, between he ages of 13 – 16, he became Youth Pastor and a Youth Leader at Tabernacle of Prayer for All People under the Tutelage of the Late Pastor Hardie Campbell. He graduated from Vero Beach High School and attended the University of South Florida, where he received his Bachelors in Science in Secondary Education in 1996.

While Studying at USF, he became licensed to minister at College Hill Church of God in Christ and performed his trial sermon on April 13, 1991. Elder Browning returned to Vero Beach to acquire a teaching position at Eau Gallie High School where he continued his tutelage under the fine leadership of Superintendant Buckner, who is the Pastor of Bible Way Church of God In Christ. Elder Browning served as the youth pastor at Bible Way. Here, with the help of a great youth team, he trained the youth’s 1st Step Team and instituted many plays and programs for youth day and youth conferences. The step team went on to win the district talent competition that year.

The Lord then led him to pursue further goals by joining the military in August of 1997 obtaining assignment as an Arabic Linguist. He graduated the Highest Honor Graduate from basic receiving the Commanding General’s Certificate, and then he completed his training in Arabic Studies in Monterey California at the Defensive Language Institute. He then transferred to Fort Jackson South Carolina to complete training as a Chaplains Assistant, where again he graduated as an Honor graduate. Elder Browning was deployed to Camp Stanley, South Korea, where he was assigned to Charlie 2 Air Mobile Command and later reassigned to 602 Air Support Battalion serving as the Chaplain Assistant. During this tour of duty, Elder Browning with fellow ministers, started the 1st Pentecostal service at Camp Stanley. The service quickly grew to become the largest service on post. Having filled up the pews of a chapel that could seat approximately 100 people, many more stood outside the doors every Sunday to worship and give God praise. Elder Browning was also sent to the Primary Leadership Development Course while in Korea where again he graduated 6th in his class of 208 students and again received an award for Commandant’s List. He also received his promotion to Sergeant within 2 years of service. Being reassigned to Fort Sill in Lawton Oklahoma as a Administrative Sergeant for the Chaplaincy, for the next two years, Elder Browning managed 3 chapels, wrote 7 budgets annually totaling over 3 million dollars without loss or error, debit card accounts with 100% accountability, over 20 soldiers under his tutelage, and many contract workers, 13 different church denominations from Catholic, Episcopal, protestant, Pentecostal, to Seventh Day Adventist, Lutheran, Nazarene, and many more. He also served as an Elder under Pastor Ronald K Harris, Pastor of Free Gospel Church in Lawton Oklahoma.

After much prayer, the Lord instructed him to return home and work for Pastor Buckner. Pastor Buckner soon became the Superintendant he soon became Pastor Buckner’s administrative assistant, driving him to necessary appointments, taking minutes, writing letters, organizing meetings, designing programs, and filling whatever the Superintendent needed. He also filled his function at the local level by installing a recording system, upgrading the sound system, purchasing and updating the church computer, designing a budget system, creating financial logs and database programs and tracking systems. He served as youth pastor, MOVE class teacher for 3 years, church administrator and district financial assistant to the superintendant.

In October of 2007 he received his Master’s in Human Resource Management and Strategic Organizational Leadership from Villanova University. Elder Browning was then Hired as a State Chaplain at Polk Correctional Institute served there as the pastor of Faith Chapel until he was recently promoted June 27, 2008 to a Classification Probation Officer at Broward Correctional Institute.

Under the Unction of God, Pastor Browning left the Department of Corrections and became the Pastor of St. John’s Church of God In Christ in March of 2009.

He has four beautiful children; Christopher, Emmanuel, Eliana, and John-Elias.
